My husband and I began visiting different churches around three years ago. We were feeling distressed that so many churches have become so vocal in the church about politics. Many times we loved the churches, but we did not agree with the political views being expressed, and we did not feel our views would be accepted as being just as valid. We visited MSUMC and joined the Cornerstone Class. We were pleasantly surprised that there was no discussion of the political election going on at the time. It was such a good experience that we eventually joined the church and decided this was where we wanted to make our church home.

After visiting a few churches in the area, I made it over to Main Street UMC and was quickly convinced that this was a wonderful community of faith. From Pastor Claude’s very powerful and relevant sermons, to the many active ministries of the church, as well as the warmth of each member I met, I knew that the Holy Spirit is at work in a BIG way here. God is good all the time; I witness this truth exhibited every Sunday at Main Street. For these reasons, it is my joy to take part in this Christ-centered fellowship each week with a such a truly outstanding group of believers.

My husband and I attended Main Street at the MLK service a year ago. There was a good feel and vibe at the church. And we came back and attended worship service the following Sunday and we have never left. There’s a strong sense of community and the presence of the Holy Spirit. The many missions and ministries, activities and study groups make the church vibrant.

This would be #1 on my list of reasons we chose to join Main Street UMC. This church is the friendliest, most outgoing and comfortable churches we have attended in our lifetime. And we are lifetime church goers. Another reason we love Main Street is the focus and vision of this church is OUTSIDE the four walls of the church, not INSIDE on ourselves as members. We love the way Main Street is so focused on helping and serving others as this goes along with our personal convictions. Another great quality is how incredibly easy it is to sign up and get involved in a project, group, or service event. In the past, we have had to rundown someone to try and volunteer for something. That is certainly not the case at Main Street! One last thing, we often miss church the month of April and October because of our jobs. We got a lovely phone call from one of the members concerned about our absence. How wonderful that was! Of course I could go on but I know you requested a brief email!! We cannot tell you how happy we are that we decided to visit that first Sunday!

4) Because Pastor Claude is an amazing and exceptional teacher of God’s Word.
5) Most important of all- because I can feel the very presence of God’s Spirit in the services.
